Lava lamp with milk

We bet you what you want that you didn't know that you could do experiments with milk that were attractive and fun. It turns out that you can, and one of the easiest is to make a lava lamp with milk.

First of all, it is important that you explain to the little ones what a lava lamp is, that having them at home was all the rage in the 1970s, and that today there are people who keep them as decorative elements They're called vintage or art deco, and if you can go online and show them some pictures, then that's all the better.

But the interesting thing is that you will be able to show them through the corresponding experiment how they were made. To be able to do it, you only need to have:

  1. A very long bottle or container
  2. An effervescent tablet
  3. Milk
  4. Vegetable oil
  5. A flashlight

The first step is to add 200 milliliters of milk to the bottle. Then you must introduce between 50 to 100 ml of oil. Immediately it is observed that there is a separation between the milk and the oil, so you will have to wait a few minutes in order for them to mix a little.

Then the flashlight is placed at the bottom of the chosen glass container and the effervescent tablets are then poured. When these substances make contact, the liquids will begin to come to life, forming bubbles.

Magnetic mass

Doing experiments with magnets is very simple and very entertaining for little ones.In this experiment they must make their own dough and stimulate it with the help of a magnet. Let's see what elements you need:

  3. School glue
  4. Iron oxide powder
  5. Disposable containers
  6. Disposable wooden sticks

To start, pour 1/4 cup of liquid starch into a container and add 2 tablespoons of iron powder. You have to stir it until everything is well mixed. Add 1/4 cup of school glue to your mixture and stir.

When the dough is viscous it will be time to start mixing by hand. It is normal for your hands to be dyed black, so it is essential that you wash them quickly, but if you could use latex gloves, much better.

Remove excess liquid with a paper towel and let the dough dry. When it is dry it will not stain anymore. Now you can make some figures in the shape you want and make them dance by passing the magnet over them.

Homemade snow with diapers

It is also common to do experiments with water, in which it plays a fundamental role, and one of them is to make artificial snow for which you will also need disposable diapers.

If you don't have children that young, you'll need to go to the store and buy a few pairs before you can continue. They can be the cheapest, no problem. We guarantee that it will snow white flakes in your house. To do this experiment you need:

  1. Two or three disposable diapers
  2. Water
  3. A glass or any other container

To start you must open a diaper and take out the cotton that it contains inside. Proceed to crumble until all the white powders you have come out. This kind of white powder is exactly what makes artificial snow possible.

Pick up that white powder and put it in the glass or container and, once placed there, shake it so that the large pieces of cotton that you have left are placed on top and you can remove them. When you already have all the white powder well separated from the cotton, we will add the water.

Liquid rainbow

It is possible to do science experiments in your home. Also, how do you think the great inventors started? Simply by inventing at home, so what we suggest is that you create your own rudimentary light bulb.

The principle is basic, you just have to pass an electric current through a material until it heats up and emits visible light. What you need to do this experiment is:

  1. A glass jar with a tight lid
  2. One lead of graphite (1.4 mm) and aluminum foil
  3. 2 6V 4R25 type batteries or 12V 8Ah lead-acid battery.
  4. Switch, cable and crocodile connectors

Cut the cork stopper in half and drill the hole in each piece that will serve as a guide for the screws. The important thing here is that you drill them with a smaller measurement so that the screws are tight. At that time you can insert the corks into the holes in the lid and seal them with silicone.

Strip, braid and wrap a piece of wire around the head of each of the screws. If you have a soldering iron, you can solder them for a firmer bond. If not, just leave them tightly rolled up. Then proceed to screw on the cork pieces of the jar lid.

With gloves on, pull out the pencil lead. It is important that it does not break. Now attach the lead to the screws. For this you can use the metallic piece of two creams and a piece of wire or a clip. If you don't have these tools, you can also use bare and braided cable, always with gloves on.
