On this day (August 27), 1831, the British Michael Faraday discovered the phenomenon of magnetic induction.
Michael Faraday, born in the United Kingdom on September 22, 1791, was a physicist and chemist who studied electromagnetism and electrochemistry. His main discoveries include electromagnetic induction, diamagnetism and electrolysis.
Michael Faraday was taken out of school at a very young age by his mother because of the harsh punishments they gave children there and because his teacher made fun of how Faraday pronounced the "R's". t4>
So Faraday was practically self-taught and ended up being a great experimenter and one of the most influential physicists in history.
His lack of him in mathematics was supplied by a young Maxwell who translated all of Faraday's experimental work into mathematical language. And Maxwell said of Faraday about his use of electromagnetic lines of force that: "they show that Faraday has indeed been a great mathematician. From whom the mathematicians of the future will derive valuable and prolific methods."
The phenomenon of magnetic induction discovered by Michael Faraday is the phenomenon that causes the production of an electromotive force in a medium or body exposed to a variable magnetic field.
